The Indian air force has launched an effort to modify some of its Sukhoi Su-30 fighters to carry the developmental Brahmos air-launched supersonic cruise missile by 2008. Each aircraft could carry up to three of the more than 2.5t weapons, which will have a strike range of 290km (155nm).
