Brazil plans to launch its Vehiculo Lancador de Satellites (VLS) in August on the country's third attempt to join the world's satellite launcher club. The VLS, which failed in 1997 and 1999, will be launched from the equatorial base at Alcantara carrying two small satellites, Satec and Unosat, weighing 300kg (660lb), into a 750km (465 mile) equatorial orbit.
