Air France must place FFr1.5 billion in a blocked account until the European court rules on an appeal seeking to overrule the European Commission's decision that the 1993 Caisse des Depots bond issue was state aid. The Commission ordered the carrier to do so following the French government's complaint that immediate repayment would be difficult should the appeal be upheld.
