AgustaWestland has clinched a firm order from Bristow Group for six AW189 helicopters. The twin-engine, multi-role aircraft will be used for offshore transportation missions, joining Bristow's fleet of AW139 medium twins operating globally.
"The AW189s will fill a key position within our global fleet, particularly given the planned retirement of our AS332 Super Puma over the next few years and the continuing growth of deepwater developments in our key future markets," says Bristow's senior vice president, commercial, Mark Duncan. The 16-seat, 8-tonne class AW189 was launched in June and is earmarked for service entry in early 2014.
