Bristow Helicopters has secured a contract from the UK government to provide search and rescue (SAR) services in the north of Scotland.
Bristow will provide SAR services - in partnership with the Maritime and Coastguard Agency - starting in July 2013, using Sikorsky S-92 helicopters based in Stornoway and Sumburgh. Operations are expected to run for four years, until the long-term future provision of such services are secured.
"We will bring our expertise to this contract, developed in the UK between 1971 and 2007 with 11,500 missions," said Bristow director Mike Imlach. "In addition, we currently operate search and rescue services in Norway, the Netherlands, and Trinidad".
