Bulgaria has selected Eurocopter's AS532ALMkI Cougar to meet an armed forces requirement for new utility transport and combat search and rescue (CSAR) helicopters. The decision will see the Bulgarian air force receive 12 new aircraft - eight for use in the utility role and four configured for CSAR duties. The contract is reported to be worth $150 million, with first deliveries expected next year.
