The organiser of December’s Dubai air show is to hold a one-day business aviation conference in what will be the Middle East’s first dedicated event for the sector.

The Middle East Business Aviation Conference (MEBAC) will take place on 19 November, the day before Dubai 2005 opens.

The show is being targeted at the growing corporate aviation market in the Gulf states and is intended to compete with the established European Business Aviation Convention and Exhibition, which is held annually in Geneva and organised by the US National Business Aviation Association (NBAA).

The NBAA has expanded its portfolio of conventions to include Asia and Latin America as well as the European show and had been expecting to co-sponsor an event in the Middle East.

Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed al Maktoum, president of the Dubai civil aviation authority, describes MEBAC as a “welcome initiative which will focus the international aviation industry on a segment that is recording tremendous growth throughout the Middle East”.
