HAWKER EXPANDS

Hawker Beechcraft has opened a new 7,620m² (25,000ft²) paint facility at its Chester, UK base. It is designed to provide a "multifunctional service location for customers" and already provides aircraft maintenance and interior modification and refurbishment. "This new facility allows us to effectively respond to the growing demands of our customers, and enhances our commitment to meet and exceed their expectations," says Hawker Beechcraft. The standalone facility has one paint bay and one preparation area to accommodate the Hawker 4000 super-midsize business jet and similar-sized aircraft. "Depending on the mix, the facility can house four aircraft at any one time," it says.

ASTRA GLASS COCKPIT

Columbia Avionics has clinched supplemental type certification for its Universal EFI-890R flat panel display, paving the way for operators of Israel Aerospace Industries Astra business jets add glass to their flightdecks. The certificate also covers Universal's Vision-1 synthetic vision system, application server unit and dual and dual radio control units. The Astra installation features a three-panel EFI-890R display suite, configured as two primary flight displays and one navigation display. The large format primary displays provide all critical flight data consolidated on to one easy-to-read display, including attitude, heading, airspeed, altimeters, vertical speed, radar altimeter and navigation information, says Columbia.
