PHENOM FACILITY
Embraer says the first phase of its 7,430m2 (80,000ft2) Phenom production facility in Melbourne Florida is set for completion this year. The Brazilian airframer has invested $51 million in the customer centre and final assembly base, for which it has signed a 30-year lease. "Construction plans at this time call for the [complete] facility to open in first quarter 2011 and be fully operational in June. The first Phenom 100 to be assembled at Melbourne is scheduled for delivery in the fourth quarter of 2011."
EUROJET ADDITIONS
Romanian charter operator Eurojet has added a Cessna Citation XLS to its growing business jet fleet and will acquire a Bombardier Challenger 605 later this year. Eurojet's parent company Avolus says it plans to double the Bucharest-based operator's line-up to eight business jets by 2013.
OXFORD EXPANSION
London Oxford airport is set to start work on a 17,800m2 (191,600ft2) apron expansion at the UK site where construction of a new 4,440m2 hangar has already begun and a 5,000m2 resurfacing programme is imminent. All projects are scheduled for completion by year-end. "Adding the equivalent of over four football pitches-worth of space will give us a great deal more flexibility and allow with greater ease, the handling of modern regional airliners including the Bombardier Q400 and the Embraer 190 as well as the Lineage 1000 business jet," says the airport.
SLOANE RANGE
Sloane Mallorca, the Balearic charter division of UK-headquartered Sloane Helicopters, has added an AgustaWestland A109E helicopter to its fleet of single-engined Robinson R44s. The twin-engined aircraft will be used for overwater charter flights - not permitted with the R44 - within Spain and North Africa.
