VIP AIRLINER
BAE Systems has won an exclusive mandate from aviation management group SETE Aviation of Switzerland to remarket a Boeing 767-300ER widebody previously in service with Swiss operator Privatair. The General Electric CF6-80C2B6F-powered, 50-seat, corporate-configured airliner was built in 2000. It was originally delivered to KLM Royal Dutch Airlines, which operated the aircraft in a three-class configuration. BAE says its will target the aircraft at corporate operators and airlines.
ROBINSON RETIRES
Frank Robinson, founder and chairman of Robinson Helicopter, has retired after 27 years at the helm of the light helicopter manufacturer. He will be replaced by his son and Robinson vice-president Kurt. Robinson, which builds the R22 and R44 piston-engined aircraft, will deliver its 10,000th helicopter by early 2011 and is gearing up to complete certification of its new-generation, Rolls-Royce RR300 turbine-powered R66 this year.
FACEBOOK CHARTER
US charter company Desert Jet has launched what it claims is the first air charter quoting programme accessible via the Facebook social medial platform. "This quoting tool provides quick and easy access via Facebook to instant charter quotes for Desert Jet's entire charter fleet, as well as the ability to request a reservation with a click of the mouse," says the Palm Springs-based operator. The online quoting tool also integrates with Google Maps, allowing charter customers to visually select their departure and arrival airports.
