DC Aviation Al-Futtaim (DCAF), a joint venture between the Al-Futtaim group and Germany’s DC Aviation, has expanded its business aircraft maintenance capacity in the Gulf following the inauguration at the show yesterday on 12 November of a new hangar at its base at Al Maktoum International airport.
The 7,500m2 (80,700ft2) structure more than doubles DCAF’s hangar capacity on the site, bringing its total landside plot area to 24,000m2, and apron area to 13,000m2.
The new hangar will enable the business aviation services company to add two single-aisle aircraft maintenance bays and provide enough space for an additional workshop and equipment storage, it says. It will also significantly increase the number and size of aircraft that can be accommodated at the facility.
DCAF provides maintenance and support for traditional business aircraft while Germany’s Lufthansa Technik supports the region’s VIP airliners, under a joint co-operation agreement between the two companies signed last year.
Holger Ostheimer, DCAF's managing director, says its business has grown “steadily” year-on-year since the operation was launched in November 2013. “With the new hangar, we will be able to meet the growing demand for business and private jet operations [in Dubai South] for years to come,” he adds.
