Business aviation services company Jetex Flight Support has been appointed the first operator and manager of fixed base operations in Oman. The award, which was signed at the company’s flagship facility in Dubai on 12 November, forms part of Jetex’s strategy to expand its FBO network in the Gulf.
The 10-year agreement with the Oman Airports Management Company will see Jetex develop new FBOs at Muscat International and Salalah airports.
Sheikh Aimen Al Hosni, chief executive of Oman Airports, says Jetex was chosen based on strict criteria covering “quality and commitment to hospitality” that the company is aiming to provide at it its new airports.
“We hope this step will boost the level of VIP services at the new Muscat and Salalah International which in turn will take us closer to our strategic goal to become among the top 20 airports in the world by 2020,” says Al Hosni.

Oman is growing as an aviation hub in the Gulf Cooperation Council region, Jetex says, noting that the two airports have a combined capacity to handle more than 20 million passengers a year.
Meanwhile, Jetex formally opened its second FBO at its Dubai South-based flagship yesterday and announced plans to build an aircraft hangar on the site, near Al Maktoum International. Set to be operational by 2019, the new air-conditioned building will be fully equipped to accommodate the parking and maintenance needs of all major types of aircraft, says Jetex.
The second 600m2 (6,460ft2) FBO is designed, says Jetex, to offer guests “a quiet, calm environment with additional discretion”.
The new lounge presents what the company calls “a striking contrast to the bright, modern lines of the original FBO” that was opened in December last year. Combined, the two FBOs offer more than 1,500m2 of dedicated VIP lounge space, making the Jetex terminal one of the largest facilities of its kind anywhere in the world.
