New Bangkok International Airport has confirmed that the existing Bangkok international airport will be scaled down and made available to business and general aviation once construction of the new Suvarnabhumi facility is completed this year. Existing facilities will be demolished, as will one of the two runways, but the main 3,700m (12,200ft) strip will be made available for non-scheduled operations, says Adeethep Nakavisute, executive vice-president for the New Bangkok International Airport Company.
