COBHAM COMPLETES US SURVEILLANCE DEAL

Cobham has completed its $11.5 million purchase of Baltimore-based surveillance technology company Corp Ten International. An additional cash consideration is payable of up to $12.5 million between 2012 and 2014. Corp Ten, which employs 14 people, designs software which permits multiple tracking and surveillance devices to be managed within a single system, allowing real-time sharing of data and communication.


SAAB BUYS SIMULATOR CAPABILITY

Saab is to strengthen its virtual simulator portfolio with the acquisition, for an undisclosed sum, of the assets of Czech company E-COM, which has developed a range of simulators for forward air controllers and surface-to-air missile crews.


CAE UP ON CIVIL MARKET RECOVERY

Simulation and training specialist CAE posted a 4% rise to C$56.4 million ($56.9 million) in pre-tax profits for its third quarter to end December on sales up 7% at C$411.3 million. Civil training and services revenue was up 21% to C$124.3 million during the quarter.


INFOTECH IN EUROPEAN AEROSPACE MOVE

Infotech Enterprises, a German-headquartered IT services provider specialising in engineering and geographic information, is in acquisition talks with "three or four" European aerospace services companies. A deal worth $10 million to $20 million could be closed this quarter, says president Krishna Bodanapu.


UMECO CONFIRMS PATTONAIR SALE TALKS

Composite materials and supply chain services supplier Umeco confirms it is in non-exclusive discussions which may, or may not, lead to a sale of its Pattonair supply chain business.


GOODRICH POINTS TO RECORD 2011

A strong fourth quarter helped Goodrich lift 2010 sales 4.2% to $6.97 billion, raising pre-tax profit by 2.7% to $804.9 million. The star segment was electronic systems, with sales up 16% to $2.14 billion, making up for slight declines in the actuation and landing systems, and nacelles and interior systems segments. For 2011, sales are forecast to grow about 11%, to a record $7.7 billion to $7.8 billion, with large commercial airplane original equipment sales expected to grow about 15%.


L-1 PATH CLEARED FOR SAFRAN

Shareholders of L-1 Identity Solutions have approved a merger with Safran, which will value the US company at $1.6 billion. The deal, expected to close this quarter, will follow closing of a separate sale of L-1's intelligence services businesses to BAE Systems. Safran will merge the remaining L-1 businesses - credentialing solutions, biometric and enterprise access solutions and enrolment services, which are expected to have combined estimated fiscal year 2010 revenues of $486 million - with its Morpho subsidiary.


BIG JETS MAKE RUNNING FOR B/E

Full-year 2010 sales at aircraft interiors manufacturer and fasteners distributor B/E Aerospace were up 2.4% to $1.98 billion, taking pre-tax profits up 3.3% to $211.4 million. Commercial aircraft segment revenue was up 9.5% to $997.5 million, offsetting declines of 6.4% in business jets, to $213.8 million, and 3.2% in consumables management, to $772.9 million.
