WASHINGTON State senator Paul Shin is working with Snohomish County councilman Brian Sullivan to draft a bill aimed at keeping Boeing from moving business out of state by establishing a state- or county-wide "port district", which could offer favourable rents to businesses. The move comes as Boeing considers establishing a second 787 assembly line in South Carolina. Legislators also fear it will build its 737 successor aircraft outside Washington.

BMI The UK-based carrier is not saying why managing director Peter Spencer and commercial director Martyn Bridger left the company, although the departures come just weeks after Lufthansa took over. Spencer is being succeeded by Dominic Paul, who joined BMI in 2007 after serving as a customer services executive at EasyJet and Go. BMI, which made heavy losses in its last financial year, says chief executive Nigel Turner remains with the company.
