USED JETS Breathing some life into a widebody market that has been in virtual depression, Russian carrier Transaero is to take operating leases from May on nine Boeing 747-400s and as many as eight Boeing 777s, formerly operated by Japan Airlines and Singapore Airlines respectively. The 777s will serve the Russian far east and international routes, while the -400s will replace older 747-200s and 747-300s, mainly for international service.
