DELFT BLUE TILES The traditional Dutch ceramic style - more usually portraying scenes of windmills - is making a 21st century comeback, courtesy of KLM. In an initiative called "Tile & Inspire", it plans to decorate one of its Boeing 777-200 twinjets with a plastic wrap comprised of 30 x 30cm (12 x 12in)tiles, the designs of which will chosen from submissions from Facebook users, along with an "inspirational message" in one of 10 different languages.

PLYMOUTH The owners of the UK's regional Plymouth City airport are to close the loss-making facility by the end of this year. Sutton Harbour Holdings, which also recently disposed of its regional airline Air Southwest, confirms the decision. "Plymouth City airport has been loss-making for a lengthy period of time and the board has concluded there is no realistic prospect of trade improving in the near future," it says. Air Southwest operates from Plymouth.
