FAC grows capability with GTMA alliance
Farnborough Aerospace Consortium (FAC) and The Gauge and Tool Making Association (GTMA) have announced a strategic partnership for growth.
The partnership calls for shared events and services to bring a more diverse schedule for both organisations, to assist FAC in developing manufacturing services, aid GTMA with routes to new aerospace markets and provide turnkey solutions for buyers with the facilities and services available from both organisations.
Challenger clarity
Israel’s Orbit Technology Group (Hall 4, F13) is supplying its ADAMS audio management system to Canada’s Western Avionics for installation in the Canadian Armed Forces’ fleet of special-mission Bombardier Challengers.
ADAMS is a digital audio management system for large military aircraft performing the special-mission, tanker and transport roles. It manages the routing and distribution of voice and data communications to and from the aircraft as well as intercom among flight crew and maintenance technicians.
EADS on the nose
Airbus has selected French-based EADS Socata (Hall 2A, A18) to build the nose fairing for the new A330-200F freighter, it was announced at the show.
As well as manufacturing the TBM family of high-speed turboprops and TB GT general-aviation aircraft, EADS Socata also produces structures for Airbus airliners and the A400M military transport, Dassault Falcon business jets, Eurocopter helicopters and Embraer regional jets. The company has been responsible for the belly fairing of the basic A330-200 airliner since 1997.
Honeywell for NWA
Northwest Airlines has awarded Honeywell (Hall1, L18) a $490 million contract to provide repair and overhaul services for the airline’s main fleet auxiliary power units (APUs), wheels and brakes. Three existing agreements were renegotiated with Northwest as part of the airline’s reorganisation under Federal bankruptcy protection. The main fleet APU and wheels and brakes agreement will be performed over 10 years, while an agreement to support the CRJ-200’s 36-150RJ APU will extend over 20 years.
