These are "wonderful times" in business aviation, says Bombardier Aerospace Business Aircraft president Mike Graff, but maintaining that growth will demand some imaginative thinking.
On the back of record sales of aircraft, Graff is at Farnborough '98 with two of the company's latest products, the Global Express ultra-long range aircraft and the 'superlight' Learjet 45.
The stock market bull run of recent years has created a new generation of "high net worth individuals" who are increasingly turning to business aviation for work or recreation. Added to that, the process of globalisation is heightening demand for flexible, hassle-free transportation. "Senior executives, faced with growing delays using scheduled services, understand that business aircraft help increase productive time. Business aircraft are now widely regarded as a tool to help people improve performance."
The result is that there has been unprecedented" growth in business aviation in the last five years.
