Aermacchi has awarded Israel’s BVR Systems a $4.5 million contract to upgrade two Italian air force MB339A flight simulators. This follows BVR’s delivery of a full-mission simulator for the digital-cockpit MB339CD to the air force’s training school in Lecce Galatina.
The two simulators will be brought up to MB339A MLU (mid-life update) standard, fitted with a new high-resolution visual system with 170° horizontal field of-view, and redelivered in 2007. The MB339CD simulator, with 180° visual, was delivered in 2003 under a $7.1 million contract.
Israel’s Elbit Systems, meanwhile, has delivered two full-mission simulators for the Mil Mi-8 and Mi-24 helicopters ordered by the US State Department for Uzbekistan.
