CAE Electronics has sold an Airbus A320 full flight simulator to Pan Am International Flight Academy. The simulator, with CAE MaxVue Plus visual system, will be delivered in October next year, as part of the Miami-based training centre's aggressive expansion plans.

The Canadian manufacturer has also confirmed the sale of three A320 simulators, with options for six more, to US Airways. The first two machines, again with MaxVue Plus visual systems, will be delivered to the airline's Charlotte, North Carolina, training centre in February and July next year.

Montreal-based CAE, meanwhile, has sold a Boeing 737-800 simulator to Turkish national carrier THY-Turkish Airlines, for delivery to its Istanbul training centre in late 1999. A choice of visual system has yet to be announced, but the sale includes CAE's new PC-based flight management system trainer for the Next Generation 737.

On the military side, CAE has received a $9.5 million contract from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) armed forces for two Pilatus PC-7 flight training devices, with Max-Vue visuals. The machines are to be ready for training at the UAE Air Force College in Abu Dhabi by September 2000.

The company has also won a C$12 million ($8 million) contract to update the Canadian Forces' Lockheed C-130 operational flight trainer to reflect the avionics upgrade now under way atSpar Aviation (formerly CAE Aviation).
