CAE Electronics is to co-operate with a South African company to develop a mission simulator for the Agusta A109, selected by the South African Air Force to meet its light utility helicopter (LUH) requirement.

The Canadian company has signed an agreement with Midrand-based African Defense Systems (ADS) to co-develop the simulator, and enhance local industry's ability to meet future air force training requirements.

ADS has previously developed training systems for the South African defence force, including five flight training devices for the Pilatus PC-7.

CAE had been preselected by Agusta as preferred supplier of the LUH mission simulator. The Canadian company has previously produced anA109 simulator for the Belgian army.

• CAE has sold a Boeing 737 full-flight simulator and MaxVue visual system to CSA Czech Airlines, to be operational in its new Prague training centre by June next year.

Delta Air Lines has ordered a second simulator and a Level 6 flight training device for the 737-800 from CAE, for delivery to its Atlanta, Georgia, training centre in February next year.

United Airlines, meanwhile, has purchased a Boeing 767-300ER flight simulator from the Canadian company for delivery to its Denver, Colorado, training centre in May next year.
