Canadian simulation and training manufacturer CAE has introduced a new feature to its line-up to boost training for Air Traffic Control professionals.  True Environment offers a dynamic ATC environment for the 5000 and 7000 series full-flight simulators, and Simfinity training devices.

CAE teamed with Adacel to provide high volume air and ground traffic linked to realistic and context-specific voice communications using sophisticated speech recognition and text-to-speech technology.

The automated communication lets student pilots interact with simulated entities such as other aircraft, airport controllers and airport ground.  The reasoning is to let the student pilot hear the environment they are seeing.  It also reduces workload for instructors by eliminating the need to role-play ATC.

“Our new True Environment feature once again raises the bar in providing a real-world and realistic training environment.  Market dynamics, such as increasingly crowded airspace and younger, less experience pilots, place a greater demand on simulation to deliver an authentic and realistic training environment,” says Marc Parent, group president, simulation products and military training and services.
