CAE is providing Bombardier CRJ type-rating training for graduates of the Regional Airline Academy under a three-year agreement expected to generate revenues exceeding $2.4 million. The first pilots to complete the training have been hired by United Express carrier Air Wisconsin.

The Canadian company's Denver, Orlando training centre is providing bi-monthly type-rating training for graduates of the DeLand, Florida-based flying school. Last year, Pan Am International Flight Academy (PAIFA) began offering monthly CRJ type-rating courses at its regional airline training centre in Dulles, Virginia.

PAIFA, meanwhile, reports that 30 graduates of its career pilot-training programme have been hired by airlines since the start of 2004, two of them by Northwest Airlink regional carrier Mesaba. The academy's jet transition course includes use of a CRJ flight-training device. PAIFA is also expanding into CRJ maintenance training.

PAIFA has also begun BAe 146 transition training for Bulgarian airline Hemus Air. Twelve crews will be trained at the academy's Dulles simulator centre, where training of 16 CRJ crews for Denmark's Maersk Air Group has just been completed.
