Simulator manufacturer CAE has released first details of its next-generation visual system exclusively to Flight International. The Tropos visual, "slated for release early in 2002", will be the first in CAE's Atmosphere (Atmos) family of PC-based image generators. Airbus has placed an option on a Tropos visual for its A380 development simulator.
CAE says Atmos exploits advances in PC graphics and leverages its alliance with graphics chip supplier ATI Technologies. Using industry open standards, Tropos will provide improved realism and a smaller, more maintainable package, it says.
