An integrated approach to gaps in military capability is being developed by Defence R&D Canada (Hall 5a, C6).
The CapDEM project, or Collaborative Capability Definition, Engineering and Management, will apply modelling and simulation tools to forecast where military capability will fall short. This allows solutions to be developed in a time and cost effective way.
Three test cases will be used to demonstrate the approach: a joint intelligence and information fusion centre; the introduction of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV) to augment intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities; and an integrated air picture at coalition level with Canada, the US, UK and Australia.
This coalition integrated air picture will include partial integration of the command, control, communications and computer and intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (C4ISR) architectures of the four nations to enable sensor data to be fused.
