Capital Jet plans to open the world’s largest fixed-based operation (FBO) at Beijing Capital airport by the end of this year.
Capital Jet parent Capital Airports Holding unveiled plans in 2004 for a 7,000m2 (75,300ft2) FBO facility at Beijing (Flight International, 1-7 June 2004).
Capital Jet general manager Zhao Qi Jiang says construction is on schedule to be completed in October. He says the facility will be able to accommodate 10 Boeing 747s and 15 mid- to large- size business jets. It is expected to be fully used during the 2008 Olympics.
The new FBO will have multi-level lounges for national and foreign leaders.
