The Washington DC-based Carlyle Group investment company has acquired a controlling interest in California-based Stellex Aerostructures, manufacturer of complex subsystems and components for aerospace and defence programmes. Stellex will continue to operate as a privately owned company and the existing management team will remain. Carlyle says it will provide Stellex "with the resources to further position the company as a world-class supplier to its customers and partners globally". Stellex says the move will allow it to "aggressively grow the business through new aircraft programmes, joint ventures and acquisitions".
