Global private equity firm the Carlyle Group has signed a "definitive agreement" to acquire Garrett Aviation Services from General Electric. The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter. Carlyle plans to combine Garrett's assets, which include four fixed-base operations (FBO) plus an aircraft interior completion business in Van Nuys, with those of its aviation services provider subsidiary Piedmont Hawthorne.
