He may have only been in the job for nine months, but Scott Carson is already celebrating his company’s success. Carson, the president and chief executive of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, picked up Flight’s Aerospace Personality of the Year honour at last night’s prestigious awards ceremony in central Paris. The Boeing chief is quick to share the limelight with his fellow workers: “I’m blessed – at Boeing I work with 62,000 of the best people in the industry. To be honoured in this way is deeply touching.”

Sukhoi’s SuperJet 100 programme will receive a massive boost today with the announcement that not only has it finalised a joint venture company with Italy’s Alenia Aeronautica to provide sales and aftermarket support for the regional jetliner, but that it has won its first order from a western European airline.
