Australia's Seaplane Pilots' Association has bought a Consolidated PBY Catalina amphibian after years searching for an airworthy aircraft. The association found the aircraft, which it is purchasing for A$700,000 ($376,000), operating in a firefighting role in Portugal. Following airworthiness reports, the Catalina will be ferried to Australia and its future crew trained by a Canadian Catalina pilot.
