F-7

Pakistan has test-flown the FIAR Scipio radar in an F-7P as part of its upgrade programme for the aircraft.

The F-7-II, a considerably upgraded Chinese development of the F-7 (MiG-21F), entered production in the early 1980s and, by 1982, was being exported as the F-7B. An all-weather interceptor development, resembling the MiG-21MF, it is designated F-7-III. China also produces the FT-7 two-seat operational trainer. Production of the MiG-21 continues at Chengdu in small numbers as the F-7M Airguard, a variant of the earlier F-7B, extensively modernised with Western avionics, including ranging radar.

FC-1

Chengdu has dropped development of the Super-7 for Pakistan, instead replacing this project with the FC-1, on which it is receiving assistance from MiG-MAPO.

F-10

Chengdu is collaborating with Israel Aircraft Industries on the F-10. This design draws heavily on Israel's cancelled Lavi programme. A prototype aircraft is under construction.
