China and Cameroon have signed a new air services agreement, paving the way for the liberalisation of flights between the two countries.
Under the agreement, both countries can specify the number of airlines that will be allowed to serve ports directly or through any intermediate points. Airlines will be allowed up to seven flights per week and are free to ink their own codeshare agreements, says the civil aviation administration of China (CAAC).
Cameroon Airlines plans to launch flights to China, adds the CAAC. Officials from the African country say that Chinese nationals can use Cameroon as a hub to travel to other parts of the continent.
China's increasingly close relations with the continent has resulted in it signing inter-governmental air transport agreements with 16 African countries and air services agreements with six others.
