China has begun selecting and training astronauts to fly the Shen Zhou. The vehicle's fifth launch is expected to be the first to be manned. Selection has just begun from Chinese air force pilots, who will train at the equivalent of a Russian Star City or NASA Houston centre, says Su Shuangning, China's manned spaceflight programme chief.
