Hong Kong and New York-listed China Southern Airlines and China Eastern Airlines have both returned to profitability in the first half of the year. Guangzhou-based China Southern posted a ´216.9 million ($26 million) net profit, while China Eastern posted a ´64.3 million net gain. Both cited internal cost-cutting efforts and improving market conditions.
