China Southern Airlines and Virgin America have begun codesharing over Los Angeles International and San Francisco International airports.
The Guangzhou-based SkyTeam Alliance carrier is placing its code on Virgin America flights beyond the two gateway airports to 11 destinations, including Boston, Dallas Love Field, New York John F Kennedy and Washington Dulles, the airlines say in a joint statement.
“China is a significant inbound and outbound tourism market and we are extremely pleased to partner with China Southern," says Adam Green, director of network planning at Virgin America.
China Southern serves Los Angeles from Guangzhou and San Francisco from both Guangzhou and Wuhan.
China Southern and Virgin America sought authority to begin codesharing in August. They have been interline partners since 2013.
