Airbus Industrie has entered into the second stage of a subcontracting programme which could eventually lead to full production of A320 wings in China. The company signed a Memorandum of Understanding with China Aviation Industry I which will lead to the transfer of additional wing component work to partners Shenyang Aircraft and Xian Aircraft. Airbus senior vice-president of procurement Ray Wilson says that wing work in China is expected to be stepped up in five phases over seven years, to full production of the wing.
