A holding company of China’s Civil Aviation Administration has signed an agreement committing to purchase 300 Boeing aircraft in a deal worth $38 billion at list prices, Boeing announces.
The deal includes commitments from state-owned China Aviation Supplies Holding Company to purchase 240 aircraft for service with Chinese airlines, says a Boeing media release.
Those aircraft include 190 737s and 50 Boeing widebodies, though Boeing does not specify the widebody model or say which airlines will operate the aircraft.
In addition, China Aviation has committed to purchase 60 737s for leasing companies ICBC and CDB Leasing, Boeing says.
"Boeing airplanes have played an important role in supporting the development of China’s aviation transportation for the past 40 years," says Li Hai, president of China Aviation, in Boeing’s release. “These additional airplanes will further help connect the people in China and around the world.”
The news came the same day that Chinese President Xi Jinping visiting Boeing’s factory in Everett.
