Australia will launch a restricted contest for a A$25 million ($18.7 million) upgrade to its six army Boeing CH-47D Chinooks to allow for their future operational deployment. The work will add ballistic and electronic warfare self-protection equipment, a new communications suite, weapon mounts, improved aeromedical evacuation kits, ALR-2002 radar warning receivers and ALE-47 chaff and flare dispensers.
