French President Jacques Chirac was the guest of honour at the Paris airshow yesterday and used part of his time at Le Bourget presenting an award of courage.

The French Legion d'Honneur was given to Juan Garcia for his courage when tackling the South American mountain range, the Andes, back in 1930.

The President, accompanied by dignitaries and military heads representing countries around the globe, was later treated to an aerial spectacle by some of the best aircraft France currently has to offer. Before his flying visit came to an end he toured the static display of Canadian aircraft manufacturer Bombardier.
