Russia has invited Uzbekistan to incorporate the assets of the Tashkent-based Chkalov aircraft plant in Russia’s emerging United Aircraft (UAC).

The conversion of the Chkalov plant’s shares into UAC shares would benefit both countries, says Boris Alyoshin, head of the Russian Federal Agency for Industry (Rosprom) and the Russian section of an intergovernmental economic co-operation commission.

Alyoshin proposed creating a joint group to work out mechanisms for the Chkalov plant’s entry into the aircraft holding company, starting with an assessment of assets of the Chkalov plant, which produces Ilyushin Il-76 transports, the Il-114 turboprop and wings for the Antonov An-70.
