Arkia Airlines of Israel is to choose between the AI(R) Avro RJ and the de Havilland Dash 8-400, and plans to order between six and ten aircraft to replace Dash 7s. Arkia would like to introduce the new type by mid-1997. The Dash 8-400, however, will not be available until early 1999.

Air Dolomiti and Skyways are among the European regional carriers looking at fleet expansion. Italy's Air Dolomiti is considering the acquisition of 50-seat regional-jets to supplement its AI(R) ATR 42 fleet in 1997 as it expands its network. Skyways of Sweden is examining turbofan and turboprop 70-seaters.
