CIRRUSDESIGN has improved the specification of its SR20 light aircraft "-to further safety and ease of operation". The four-seat, all-composite aircraft will now include, as standard, an S-Tec roll-axis autopilot and larger Arnav multi-function display. The price has been increased, from $144,500 to $159,600, to reflect the increase in specification.

The standard S-Tec System 20 autopilot is contained within the turn co-ordinator instrument, and avoids taking up additional panel space. The optional System 30 adds altitude hold, with the installation of a remote pitch computer.

The ICDS 2000 multi-function display replaces the smaller Arnav 5200 and has a 260mm-diagonal liquid-crystal display. Integrated with the standard SR20 Trimble TrimLine avionics, the display presents a moving map, checklist, engine trends and flight plan.

Duluth, Minnesota-based Cirrus plans to fly the certification-testSR20 in October. President Alan Klapmeier says that Cirrus intends to follow the SR20, which has a 150kW (200hp) engine, with one version having a 210-225kW engine and another, lower-powered, variant.
