Irish regional carrier CityJet has firmed an order to purchase six Bombardier CRJ900s, with options for another four aircraft, Bombardier announces.
The six aircraft are worth $280 million at list prices, and CityJet will operate them under contract with SAS, says Bombardier.
The manufacturer does not specify delivery dates.
CityJet's intention to purchase additional CRJ900s surfaced on 24 January when news broke that CityJet would acquire SAS Group's Danish region unit Cimber.
Cimber operates 11 CRJ900s for SAS.
That same day, Bombardier confirmed Dublin-based CityJet had signed a conditional order for the six CRJ900s.
Bombardier says CityJet intends to continue operating Cimber's 11 CRJ900s for SAS, but will eventually replace those aircraft with incoming CRJ900s.
Meanwhile, CityJet already operates eight CRJ900s for SAS, and in early 2017 will acquire another four previously-ordered CRJ900s, which it will also operate for SAS, Bombardier says.
In total, CityJet's CRJ900 fleet should swell to 23 aircraft this summer, all operating for SAS.
