Israel Aerospace Industries' Tamam division has unveiled an airborne navigation system for unmanned air vehicles.

The Tamam navigation fibre optic gyro is an advanced lightweight, airborne navigation and attitude heading reference system for use in UAVs, target drones, small aircraft and helicopters.

It can also be used for targeting applications as part of a stabilised electro-optical/infrared sensor payload.

IAI says the new equipment - which uses an inertial measurement unit and a GPS receiver - offers a heading accuracy of 0.5°, roll and pitch accuracies of 0.2° and horizontal and altitude position accuracy of less than 3.3ft (1m).

Systems worth several million dollars have already delivered to local and international customers, says Tamam.
