AlliedSignal Aerospace has received final acceptance from the US Federal Aviation Administration for its Precision Runway Monitor (PRM) system at the Minneapolis-St Paul Airport.
The PRM is a stand-alone air traffic control system which allows parallel runway approaches even in bad weather.
Four more major US airports, including New York's John F Kennedy, are scheduled to get the system.
