Final-approach aircraft separations of 4.5km (2.5nm) rather than the present 5.5km are to be allowed at London's Heathrow and Gatwick airports in the UK from 1 July following a three-year trial and the comparison of approach occurrence-report data before and during the test period. The new minima may only be used in daylight and good weather. Wake-vortex separation minima are unchanged.
