Air Canada has denied reports that it is to pull out of the proposed joint IT platform with fellow Star Alliance partners Lufthansa and United Airlines. "We are still participating in the project and continue to evaluate the potential benefits," says Air Canada.

The three airlines have been working on the IT platform for over two years without making a decision. They have been locked in exclusive negotiations with global distribution system provider Amadeus for around a year.

Richard Clarke, who heads travel and transportation for the META Group IT consultancy, says if Air Canada does pull out, the lower volumes "make the business case less attractive".
