CMC Electronics has supplied CMA-900 Flight Management System (FMS) upgrades for four of Air France's eight Boeing 747-200 aircraft and has also supplied CMA-900 for Martinair's fleet of four 747s. Air France's remaining four 747s will be modified over the next three months, with the multisensor installation based on the CMA-900 FMS integrated with the Carousel IV Inertial System.

Jean-Marc Bara, Air France's project manager, says: "Our main reason for selecting CMC Electronics' CMA-900 FMS is its performance in matching the 747 requirements.

"The CMA-900 will enable us to comply with Precision Area Navigation (RNAV) requirements and to automate terminal area flying procedures such as Standard Instrument Departure (SID) and Standard Terminal Arrival (STAR)."

KLM Engineering and Maintenance in Schiphol is currently completing the Martinair upgrade programme. The CMA-900 will provide GPS-based navigation and enhanced operational capability to the Netherlands-based operator.
