The Swedish air force has proposed a cockpit upgrade to its Saab 105 jet trainer, in an effort to improve its ability to prepare pilots for operations with the JAS39 Gripen multirole fighter. Awaiting funding approval late this year, the plan could see the already re-engined trainer equipped with hands-on throttle and stick controls, a head-up display and multifunction colour displays.
